IN THIS TEACHING

In Divine Will – Guided Meditation, Mark Griffin presents sankalpa—the divine will of the Guru—as the catalytic force behind authentic spiritual awakening. The teaching begins by addressing a central challenge of modern life: attention is fragmented by surface activity, making it difficult to perceive the deeper currents of consciousness that move beneath ordinary awareness. Meditation and disciplined practice are therefore reframed as tools for retraining attention, allowing the practitioner to align with the subtle movement of the Guru lineage.

At the heart of the teaching is a decisive insight: awakening is not produced by effort alone. Practices such as pranayama, concentration, meditation, and pratyahara refine the system—building clarity, endurance, and stability—but they function primarily as preparation. True transformation occurs when these efforts align with the Guru’s sankalpa, activating Shaktipat, the descent of grace that simultaneously unfolds awakening across all levels of being.

Griffin frames spiritual training as tapasya—a forging process in which sustained attention and discipline generate the inner heat required to penetrate beyond surface perception into the causal layers of consciousness. When personal effort matures to the point of receptivity, the practitioner begins to sense and respond to the deeper current of divine will. At this stage, awakening shifts from a distant goal to an active force moving within one’s life, accelerating evolution under the guidance of the lineage.

Practically, the meditation returns to foundational methods: bellows breathing, the spontaneous vibration of SoHam, and the cultivation of bodhicitta. These practices stabilize attention while opening perception to the subtle presence of the Guru. As awareness deepens, the practitioner begins to recognize a hidden continuity—a thread of grace that has always been present, guiding the movement toward realization.

Ultimately, The Divine Will reveals that awakening unfolds through the convergence of disciplined practice and divine will. When effort and grace align, the individual life force becomes synchronized with the deeper intelligence of consciousness, and the path transforms from striving into participation in the living current of awakening itself.
